The dark furs had to come out for New York Fashion Week, which might as well have been NPFW (North Pole Fashion Week.) Emily wore a stunning ox-blood fur and leather jacket from Helmut Lang, and Abigail draped a black fur Dawn Han cape over her shoulders. This was probably the only day we didn’t freeze. Also rocking grey and black lipstick… guess we were feeling extra gothic that day!
(On Abigail:) Coat, Thrifted. Skirt, Dawn Han. Boots, Ritch Erani. Bag, Karen Millen. Ring, Cassandra Collections.
(On Emily:) Fedora, Aldo. Jacket, Alice and Olivia. Dress, Nasty Gal. Shoes, Sam Edelman. Blue bag, Foley + Corinna.
This day of NYFW we rocked two of our favorite statement jackets. Abigail’s feather-frenzy piece was a lucky find at a Thrift Shop (insert Macklemore lyric here), and Emily’s embellished military-inspired jacket is from Alice and Olivia. Speaking of Macklemore, we got the opportunity to work with him this weekend. Stay tuned for that blogpost!
Every season we look to one of our favorite designers, Dawn Han, to satisfy our taste for “Dark Fashion.” This day we went to the shows head to toe in Han’s pieces. She is the master at leather and fur detailing, and we can’t help but feel beautifully barbaric in these ensembles.
We always look forward to see which designers are selected to present a glimpse of their collection at the Vantan Tokyo runway show. This season we were particularly in love with Nelly Hohmann, and Eisunoge. Hommen’s collection was full of inky blacks and blues, and we loved how each silk garment graced the runway. Eisunoge’s color pops and funky accessories made us swoon, and coin the term “Pinocchio-Chic.” Backstage we learned that the shoe order didn’t come in time, so last minute they spray-painted new shoes. Industrious, and ingenious.
Things we fell in love with at Hernan Lander: the prints, the geometric cut-outs, and his take on tuxedo and riding jackets. The perfect mix of structure and draping at Lander’s presentation! Absolutely in lust with that full-length gown.
The lights dimmed at Pamella Roland show, as the plastic cover came off the gorgeous cobble-stone imprinted runway. (We always love when designers get creative with their catwalk.) As we expected, beautiful gowns graced the stage in stunning silhouettes and colors. Roland showcased a collection full of luxe leathers, and fuzzy furs, and we especially loved the dramatic collars.
A stampede of ferocious models hit the runway at Katya Leonovich. The fur, leather, oceanic blues, and mossy greens made the show feel like Planet Earth or Jumanji, and we mean that in the best way possible! Even the hair was styled as we hoped Tarzan Jane’s would be. Absolutely inspirational.
Quickly learning that eskimo-chic is on trend for AW13. Herve Leger’s collection was full of fluffy hoods, leather-trimmed caps, and of course, body-cons galore. We said it, and we’ll say it again, go out and invest in “white on white on white!”
