East Village Errands

Running errands in nearly 90 degree weather in the East Village looks a little something like this for us. Wearing as little as possible, barely there tops, rocker chic minis, and well skirts and a slight breeze… works wonders, but let’s just say everyone in the vicinity got quite the show.

Day to day for WanderLust is generally a lot of black, but Spring has brought a whole new side of us out… navy blue! (We’ve actually been adding quite a bit of color to our wardrobe, which you can see more of on our Instagram.)
However, to answer your questions of what we wear when we’re trolling the East Village, or out and about running errands? This look is along those lines. We trade in our mega heels for some comfortable flats, giant sunglasses, and cut it down to like 2lbs of metal instead of the usual 30lbs. Here it is- WanderLust Girls comfortable casual stylings! What do you guys think?

They can say whatever

Emily: Leather jacket, Maje. Tank, Jennifer Hope. Pants, Theory. Heels, Dolce Vita. Bag, Zara. Sunnies, Christian Dior.
Abigail: Top & pants, Dawn Han. Clutch, Foley + Corinna. Shoes, Pour La Victoire. Sunnies, Ray Ban.

Matching has been an obsession of ours lately. Abigail went for an entire Dawn Han look in olive green. (One of our favorite designers, who happens to be an East Village dweller as well!) Emily on the other hand wore all black as usual, but kept it light with Theory pants and a Jennifer Hope top. And yes, this is our idea of business casual. Let’s just say when we walk into a meeting we want THIS to be playing.

Now that Spring’s here, be prepared for some more street style, and some of our usual ridiculous themed shoots :)

Thrift Shop

As much as we hope, dream, pray, what have you… we’re not swimming in money. (Pause to daydream that we are for one more second.) Okay, now that we’ve come to terms with this horrible realization, we can’t let it stop us from shopping more than we should. So, here are some NYC tips to look badass, but lower the outgoing casheesh.

Thrift, thrift, and then thrift some more. Macklemore knows best. We absolutely love perusing the shops around the East Village. There is some sort of thrift or consignment shop on every corner, so you have your pick. We generally try all of them… just to be safe, but pictured above are a few favs: No Relation Vintage; Eleven Consignment Boutique; and Buffalo Exchange. You can never have too many vintage tees!

When we received these adorable monochromatic dresses from Missguided, we immediately imagined them in our natural habitat… East Village rock bars. There are two trends that we hold dear, and they are zebra print, and cut-outs. We love the intensity of the animal print, and the sex-appeal of some strategically placed holes (perfect for rib tats!)

If you haven’t been to the UK based e-tailer before, check out their US page. Let’s be honest, the Brits know what’s up. There’s even a category called “Leatherette Love.” Maybe our category would be called “Village Vibe.”
