Flirty Florals

(Photos from Pinterest)

(Photos from Target)

Although our color palette is well… black, we are tempted by some new territories this season! Fun flirty florals will be making their way into our wardrobe for sure. We love how a simple look can become so feminine by adding just one floral piece. Even punks and goths can test it out in their own way.

Of course, you can’t go overboard. We’re not trying to look like a botanical garden, although that could make for an interesting shoot… we’ll get back to you about that. It is important to try and add just one floral accent piece, such as a cute purse or pair of sunglasses. Or, you could start with a bang and go with a dress, or shorts and top look, and use minimal accessories. All are perfectly sweet summer looks!

Hopefully we’ve seen the last of the snow, so we can start rocking this trend. It’s time for Springtime ;)

Shorts Temper

(On Abigail) Sheer top, Hale Bob. Scarf & denim cut-offs, LF. Bag, Karen Millen. Shoes, Ritch Erani.
(On Emily) Sheer tank, Intermix. Leather shorts, Dawn Han. Shoes, Sixty Seven.
Our good friend and photographer from Style Defined NYC captured us outside of the Mondrian Soho wearing sheer shirts, short shorts, and even bare-knee tights… quite fitting for the 25°F it happened to be, wouldn’t you say? Yes, we are the worst at dressing for the weather. But hey, we brought big coats.
Post Script – Is it time to bring back the oversized beginning-of-a-chapter-letter? Too bad they don’t have Old English font.

Oh mimosas, how you lure us… as well as all the delectable food at the beautiful restaurant, Isola, in the Mondrian SoHo. We’re so excited to be a part of their new brunch ritual!
The space is like the most luxurious green house, donning beautiful chandeliers, lots of liquor, and fully equipped with a new DJ spinning every week. They always seems to get us on our feet within about an hour… it may be the champagne, but we can’t give alcohol all that credit…
Great crowd, great time, and most importantly such great outfits by brunch goers :)

Beach Bums

(On Emily) American Heart Tee, Brandy Melville. Denim cut-offs, LF stores. Lace-up boots, AllSaints.  Sunnies, Bottega Veneta. White long-sleeve, Alexander Wang.
(On Abigail) White sweater, LF stores. Bikini bottom, Teeki. Zipper boots, Dolce Vita. Jack Daniels tee, Grit N Glory. Aviators, Ray-Ban.

I can’t even pretend to act like everything is normal when I write this post. Seeing the photos of our butts makes me laugh every time, because we tried to video each other biking, and both ended up off-roading into a swamp. If you’re lucky, we’ll post those videos. DISCLOSURE: Any and all casual glamour in our blogposts must be discredited, because it’s highly likely we did something absurd pre or post photo.

Now that I have ranted about how stupid we are, I can say we had an amazing trip. Nothing like combat boots in the sand :) Emily finally busted out her Alexander Wang white long-sleeve, and naturally I wandered the island boasting about my vintage Jack Daniels tee from Grit N Glory.

Needless to say we got no color, and still appear as ghostly vampires that live in a cave. But hey, at least we have photos to prove we went away.

Sheer Gear

Don’t get us wrong, we long for those warm summer days, but there is a difference between comfortably warm… and way too hot! That’s why sheer pieces are such a staple for any woman’s wardrobe. But there’s a right and wrong way to wear sheers. To be blunt, keep what should be covered up in public, covered up.

There are so many ways to work this trend into your Spring/Summer looks! Leotards, tanks, tees, skirts, and especially dresses. Above are a few of our favs from Target. How adorable does Ashley Olsen look in this sheer number cinched with a belt?

The best thing about sheers is how versatile they are. They can be slouchy, or skin tight. We can’t get enough. It’s time for Springtime :) How will you incorporate sheers into your warmer wardrobe?

A couple of weeks ago we dined over the Hudson River at The Standard Hotel with the most appropriate person to do so, Captain “Sully” Sullenberger. The American Hero became an Ambassador of fine watchmaker, JEANRICHARD. Sully discussed how he is fascinated with time, and we all know his famous accomplishment relied on what precious time he had. We really enjoyed hearing him speak, and celebrating the wonderful new collaboration.

Spring Fling

(Photos from Target)
Well, this kind of proves we don’t veer far from neutral colors, but these are perfect Spring closet essentials. You always have to have your basics! In this case, we found simple solutions from Target. Necessities include: maxi dresses, sheers, jumpers, circular sunnies, thin chambray shirts, floppy hats, cute graphic tees, lace bralettes, and rose gold accessories.
We’re big fans of a comfortable easy outfit. High-low is the way to go. A plain white tee, black bralette, denim cut-offs, massive sunnies, baller watch, and some gladiator sandals sounds like the perfect Spring ’13 to us :)
So, snow, please go away, and let us revel in the sunny weather. It’s time for Springtime!

Glam Day

(On Abigail) Studded jacket, Blaque Label. Dress, H&M. Boots, Ritch Erani. Bag, Karen Millen.
(On Emily) Sheer shirt, Topshop. Leather shorts, Dawn Han. Necklace, Gabriele Frantzen. Boots, Sixty Seven.

Anytime Glam Media invites us to an event they’ve planned, we immediately RSVP. That company knows how to treat a lady! Just before NYFW we went to Le Parker Meridien Hotel for some Dry Bar loving, manicures, and of course.. some bubbly :) We’re wretched hair stylists, so we were thrilled to have nice curls for once.

Spring In Your Step

(Images from Target)

It was when we were packing for Florida, just before NYFW, that we realized we only had two kinds of shoes: black combat boots, and closed-toe booties. Obviously black is our favorite color, but it’s time for Springtime, and we need to address this shoe issue… “isshoe”?
Browsing Target’s shoe dept. online was the easiest way to get excited for warmer weather. They are right on trend with metal-capped toes, pastels, snakeskin, and color-blocking. Especially swooning after the Prabal Gurung x Target shoes. We personally can’t wait for a nice white tee, skinny blue jeans, and a basic pointed pump like the ones featured above.
You can expect to see us in some of these shoes this Spring! Which one is your fav?
