Every season we look to one of our favorite designers, Dawn Han, to satisfy our taste for “Dark Fashion.” This day we went to the shows head to toe in Han’s pieces. She is the master at leather and fur detailing, and we can’t help but feel beautifully barbaric in these ensembles.
I suppose this day we were inspired by a past fav runway song: “16 Shades of Black and Blue.” Bruise-chic? Estonian flag fashion? Anyways. We busted out our favorite Foley + Corinna handbags. Especially obsessed with the oversized clutch. Those ladies know how to fuse fashion with function! Missing Fashion Week… plotting for the Cannes Film Festival next. ;)
Day One of NYFW was all about two things for us, black skinnies and Dana-Maxx jackets. When we saw these faux-fur and gold-sequined sleeves our jaws dropped. Elaborate or embellished… always a key piece for your Winter wardrobe. Paired with them are Articles of Society wax-finish pants, and Garter + Derringer black denim, with simple Sixty-Seven platforms, and Ritch Erani wedge boots. (Featured oxblood handbag by L.A.M.B.)
Spotted: From the catwalks to the tents, and even the most posh of subways, WanderLust was shoe stalking the shit out of people, and we fell in lust with so many of these high heel diggs! Gorgeous greens, metallics, snake skins, spikes galore, furs, and some unique architecture.
Even men’s loafers came out in bright spray-painted colors! Right on the $$ to add some color to F/W’s darker attire!
You really can’t go wrong with Fern Mallis’ “Fashion Icons” series at the 92Y. We’ve been blessed to attend the likes of Donna Karan, and Michael Kors, and this week we heard from gown guru, Vera Wang. The one on one discussion between Mallis and Wang was filled with inspiring stories, and countless laughs. It’s refreshing to hear how down-to-earth and light-hearted some of these legendary designers truly are.
At the private reception we mixed and mingled, and indulged in Martini Prosecco. Mini-sized bottles and straws are everything. Now if only we could get our hands on the VW&FM bedazzled bottle…
If The Little Mermaid were High Fashion, we’d hope everyone in the Kingdom would wear threeASFOUR. This was some serious Sea-Creature-Couture. We’re always amazed by the artistic vision of the designers, and love the high-drama. It’s painful that we haven’t worn threeASFOUR yet, but the day will come. We promise. And I know it’s hard to see, but there are sheer chaps on the all black outfit… need.
Tiny tot’s hit the runway to start off the super fun show at Boy Meets Girl. Absolutely adorable and refreshing to see smiling faces hit the catwalk. Comfortable funky clothes, and a great live performance by Leah LaBelle! Love the black top with the gold Boy Meets Girl logo she wore.
The mood was set as the pianist entered the room, and Douglas Hannant’s gorgeous collection circled it’s glamorous guests. It felt like we were transported to a vintage style runway show. We absolutely loved the bright blue looks, and are fawning over the Cruella-chic leather dress with red jacket. The glitz was all topped off with glimmering necklaces by Tamsen Z, and blood red lips. Beautiful!
Absolutely stunning collection, as usual, from Brandon Sun. We were completely captivated by the dark green fabrics, beautiful furs, and lavish leathers. So impressed with the innovative structure of the pieces. Good friend, Gabriele Frantzen, added the perfect touch with her jewelry to the presentation! All around well done
Geometric shapes, leather bodices, caged hats, and flirty feminine furs were all the rage at Bibhu Mohapatra. So psyched to see so many gorgeous gowns come down the catwalk. We can already picture Bibhu all over the red carpets next awards season!
Of course, we have to mention as footwear fanatics, the unreal United Nude heels! Completely obsessed. We also have to mention one of our all time favorite things about fashion week… seeing Bill Cunningham front row snappin’ away. :)
